The day starts off as usual, I watch from my bed as the young humans rush around the house getting ready to leave. But then Lucy begins taking interesting things out of the cupboard. Dog treats, dog costumes, a water bowl and my leash! I jump out of bed, tail wagging furiously, excited at the offer of going for a walk. But Lucy sets the leash on the ground and goes off to eat breakfast. I whine in protest and run around the house, trying to figure out what’s going on. Half an hour later, the humans leave to school, my pile of stuff still sitting next to the door.
I wake up to the sound of a key turning in the door. A thief! I must protect my house.
I jump up and bark as loud as I can, trying to look as scary as possible. “Shut up Mimi!” The intruder yells. Oh, it’s just my owner again. I rush to greet them properly but they grab my stuff and lead me to the car. Yes! We’re going on a trip! I wonder where to?
Soon the car slows down, and I look out the window to see our destination. Oh we’re at the school again. I came here two years ago. Lucy is there to greet me. She opens the door, and I nearly fall out. She clips on my leash, and we run down the driveway. I am greeted by many other dogs, no matter how much I try to avoid them. I’m going to have to put up with them for the whole day. Lucy ties me to the fence between a crazy labrador and a huge beast of a dog that’s about five times my size, he seems friendly though. We sit for ages in the hot sun, Lucy tries to leave multiple times but I let her know she’s not allowed to. Now i’m sitting on her, just to make sure she doesn’t try it again. She’s not leaving me alone with all these strangers. Finally some adult humans come and talk to Lucy, and she unties me and leads me towards a set of random obstacles. “Go!” says the lady and we set off at a run. I know what to do. We make it over the first jump, but the second is pretty big. I could make it, but I can’t be bothered, so I go under. To make up for it I complete the other obstacles perfectly with a time of 23 seconds.
After the obstacle course all the humans start walking their dogs around. Lucy takes me to a big line and my nose fills with the tantalizing smell of hot sausages. If only I was bigger so I could jump up and steal one. Lucy gets one, and kindly rips off a small piece and gives it to me. I meet lots of other dogs, most of which I don’t like. They all try to make friends with me but I let them know I hate them all. Lucy calls me a grump. Yes I am a grump, and I’m proud of it. However I do meet this big dog called Base, who I be nice to, mainly because he’s so big he could scare all the other psycho dogs away. But he doesn’t, he’s to friendly. Oh well.
