Clip and Climb - Camp Wanaka

On Monday 29th August we went to clip and climb for our first activity for camp. Everyone had a turn except a few parents and one child! Everyone had a blast!
There were two different types of climbing walls, one was called clip and climb and the other was called the sport wall. There were heaps of different climbing walls such as face to face, squares, rat race, checkerplate, spaghetti junction, zig zag and dark tower. We split into two groups and started climbing! Macleod got the fastest time on the rat race with 14 seconds! People found the zig zag quite easy at first but then it can get harder as you get higher up. We had some free time and everyone chose clip and climb. After that most of us got tired and we all came out happy!

On Thursday the 23 of June Greer our Sports Activator come to school to teach us hockey. It was raining so it wasn't the best conditions to be playing hockey in but we all survived and learnt a lot. First of all we played a game called snowball, where their was two people in and they each had a tennis ball and they had to run round and tag as many people as they could. Once you got tug you had to grab a tennis ball, then you were in as well. We done this drill to practice being light on your feet, agility and also avoiding. Secondly we done a passing drill were we got a buddy then done different types of passing. After that we did shooting at the goal then with a defender. Finally we played a game and it was a draw here and here are some photos.

Baking Cakes!

On the 15th of April the Year 7 & 8's where at technology Adam, Will, Tyler, Leah, Zara and Shaun got to help bake a cake. The cake was a spiced apple cake, YUM! We made it for the whole school except for the technology fellows.
First we peeled the apples and cut them up into small squares and put them in a pot with a little water. We melted the butter (250g) and added it to the apples. We added the dry ingredients and eggs. Then we placed it in the oven and waited 40 minutes.
After play the school and teachers came up to the multipurpose room and we dished the cake and ice cream (cookies & cream, hokey pokey and vanilla) and they loved it and gobbled it down before our eyes. DELICIOUS!!!!!!

Dreams...

Yesterday the juniors joined class and we had to brainstorm about dreams and then write a story about them. I choose to do my story about a nightmare. I was in a group with Annabelle and Molly. They both wrote about a dream or a wish.

What is a dream
  • Wish
  • Need
  • Want
  • Think-about
  • A dream not only happens in your sleep and night it can happen during in the day.

This is my story about nightmares and dreams:

I’m lying in bed, the wind is getting louder and louder. The night sky's getting darker and darker, my eyes closed.
I’m in a deep sleep…….
I am now in a room with the alphabet on the wall and numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5. I think I am in a school. Ehhh what was that? I just heard a noise, it sounded like “emmmmmmm”  I have to run!! I have to get out!! I look behind me making sure there is nothing there, I come around a corner standing there was a lady, the lady looked at me, her face changed a different shape. I ran, my heart was thumping, my face lost all expression! I come around a corner in the corridor. I tripped up. I tried to run but the lady had already picked me up, I had no idea what she would do. I looked at her blue eyes, she said “A FRIEND” with a loud voice and hugged me. I wondered what is going on? First she was chasing me and now she is hugging me, this I so weird!
She said to me, “My name is Michelle, I am a lonely person. I have no friends, I was hoping we could be friends? I was chasing you because I wanted a friend then you started running, so I followed you. I am truly sorry if I scared you, I can make it up to you, I really will it is just no one likes me.”
SUddenly, I sit up in my bed with a fright, my heart is pounding. I wonder if she really was just lonely and needed a friend?
That was a terrible nightmare.
