Harlin 31.10.17

I watch as I pass all of the lambs, goats and dog eyeing up which one I’m going to sit beside the a kid take me over to a empty spot and ties me up I was all alone.

A big furry dog comes over I eye him up and see if he’s friendly he was but wasn’t very fun so of to the next place we went.

Screenshot 2017-10-30 at 12.19.47 PM.pngNext we were beside a big scary dog called Rocky and he looked nice.

I take one look to the right and I smell a nice lamb suddenly the kid shoves some food in my mouth It tastes disgusting.

I hear people saying that I’m so small and cute. I think what would that lamb taste like. I feel the cold breeze blowing in my face. I see the people stare at me like I stare at the lamb.

I see a person saying fight I bark at him and rocky takes it the wrong way and barks at me I back off and stare at the lamb again.

Physical Phenomena

Well, what a busy term we had in the Senior Class!
Our inquiry topic was called 'Physical Phenomena' and it was certainly an engaging, hands-on topic to spark our learners into greatness!
We began by looking at forces and energy, how they work in the real world, we then moved on to electricity, playing with our new kits to work out how a circuit works and how to add extra things like buzzers and switches. We learnt how to draw symbols for circuits, played with torches, and investigated light using light boxes. Finally we moved onto our own personal Science inquiry based around the Physical World, we had a template to follow which showed us the important parts to include in our project such as Hypothesis, Method, Research, Results, Conclusion and how it connects to the real world.
We held our school Science Expo in the last week of school, it was a huge success allowing the students to share their new learning with peers, whanau and community members.

Digital Day # 2

We've had a fun digital day in the Senior Class today, we used our experts (students who went to Digital Dynamos in Clutha Valley) to lead workshops and share their learning from there.

We started the day off with Henry and Daniel giving us an introduction into Robotics, they had made up some of our robotics kit and described their task at the Digital Day, some of us are now hooked on robotics. Then Keeley and Leah-Marie showed us Google My Maps and Bitmoji, that was super fun too and had us all hooked in!

After play we played on Stop Motion Animator making movies in groups of two and three, they turned our ok and also left us with things to improve when we make these again.

After that we played on Incredibox and Soundation, our classroom was full of funky beats.

After lunch Mrs Hyslop introduced the new Makey Makey kits that the Support Group donated to the school, we had so much fun experimenting with the circuits to create music and play games.

Digital Day

While the four of our students went to Digital Dynamo Day at Clutha Valley School, we had our own digital day where the students were leading workshops in a range of different apps.
Check out our slide we shared in assembly about it all.

Rippa Tournament 2017

Rippa Tournament 2017

I hear stomping as I dash down  the field,
I see the Clutha Valley kids right behind me,
I feel my knees sink into the mud as the ball reaches the ground,
I taste salty mud as it drys out my mouth,
I wonder how my my team (The Warriors) will go.
