The problem was that a girl wanted to buy a surf board for $850. She got $5.50 to travel on the bus everyday and $4.50 to buy a hot chocolate if she walked. She had to travel at least two days on the bus.
We had to come up with a savings plan in our groups. Some ideas were - On the days she didn't have to travel to school on the bus she could save this money, if she wanted to walk to school she needed to buy an umbrella if it rained and a hot chocolate (but she could take the hot chocolate from home).
We set off into our groups to solve the problem by figuring out the most efficient way was to save $850 for the surf board.
Our group brought her an umbrella and then we went to The Warehouse and brought her a big tin of milo for $1, she used a thermos she found in the basement to keep her hot chocolate warm.
We managed to help her save the money for the surfboard in 80 weeks, and she had $70 left over which she used to buy sunscreen for at the beach.
